Bonus Sound!
Sounds of the city
When we got to Odonnell Park right in front of Wisconsin Ave, I got some really good sounds. Skateborders rolling by, people having conversations, birds, and cars driving by. To listen to what I heard, click here.
Random creature
In Lakeshore State Park was where I got the most ambient sounds. There were a lot of birds, and cars driving by. I was mostly recording the sounds of the city, until I heard a strange noise coming from one of the trees. It sounded like some kind of insect or other small animal. So many birds!
After walking through a big space of nothing on a hook that juts out into Lake Michigan, I didn't really get anything interesting until I saw a flock of birds on the lake. They were all making different noises, and if you listen carefully, you can hear them all flying away out of the water when I got closer to them. To listen to the sound I captured, click here.
Slosh.. Slosh..
My first sound that I captured was right along the lakefront. All I did was simply put my mics down over a fence by the lakefront and I captured the sounds of the lake splashing on the rocks. If you listen carefully, about halfway through you can hear the sound of my friend throwing a big rock into the lake right in front of where my mics were placed. To hear what I heard, click here.
Drift Strategy
For my drift 1 soundwalk, I plan on walking somewhere around the lakefront. I'm not sure where exactly yet. I'm planning on using the stopwatch technique. I plan on walking in one direction for one minute, then turning and walking in a different direction for 2 minutes, then turning and walking in a different direction for 3 minutes, and so on and so forth. Which direction I turn depends on where I am. If I can't turn right or left because of a building or other obsticle in the way, I might just turn around and back in the direction I came from. I'll just have to play it by ear.

For my drift 1 walk I started out on a side street right next to the Marcus Ampitheater. Since I was using a stopwatch for my walking pattern I thought that it would be a good idea for be to walk through parks and end on the roads. I figured that way I wouldn't run into too many obstructions like buildings and street intersections. I ended on Mason St. right by the Art Museum.
